Jan Wildeboer, Red Hat’s EMEA Evangelist, is an open source developer, user and promoter since 1993. Before joining Red Hat, he was involved in running the various campaigns against software patents in europe. As evangelist, he cares a lot about promoting the open source principles in the political, economical and social field.

As Thomas Friedman explain in his book «The World is Flat», the transaction-cost free communication of the internet creates a wealth of possibilities to create, maintain and foster on open society. Open Source and Free Software were merely the start. With Open Data, Open Knowledge, Social Networks and global communities the principles of Open Source have grown into a lot of fields.
