Cross-disciplinarity and Open Source Software

OSS is destroying the linear development roles, which rather become free-standing clusters of similar actors, that cooperate with other clusters and actors:

• vendors cooperate to make generic OSS
• developers develop application-specific middleware
• customers like communes join forces to acquire domain-specific software
• end-users may contribute free plugins for iPhones.

So we need cross-disciplinary working skills!
